R+P Post 10: Album covers that have inspired and influenced my ideas

Candid Photography

  • The idea of candid photography allow for the artist to be portrayed humbly as a human being, allowing for the artist not to be idolized but rather understood for being similar to her fans.
  • As well as this the idea of candid photography would suit the young age of the artist herself, as it seems playful and hip.
  • I feel it would be a good idea to include candid photography in the inside of the album cover itself, so as to allow a greater sense of understanding of the artist herself by her fans, as to the nature of the artist.
  • All in all, candid photography would allow our artist to seem like any other young adult woman growing up in London and, therefore would allow for a greater personal importance to the content of her music.

The Graffiti Jumping Idea

  • For the front and back cover, I had this idea of creating two layers of surface exposed between the silhouette of the singer jumping up in front of a wall of graffiti.
  • I was greatly inspired by the album cover on the left above.
  • The aesthetic would seem both grungy and vibrant like the look from a vintage film camera. This I felt could be achieved in the editing of the photo itself.
  • This aesthetic is achieved by the 'Stereophonics' fan made album cover on the right, which also has graffiti as a chosen aesthetic.
  • I felt this aesthetic of graffiti works well as it can be applied, using our idea, on both sides of the album in order to ensure an urban look. Most likely it will be some graffiti in Brick Lane, therefore becoming more attractive to the target audience, as this area is well known to the London youth of today.
