One music label that I had in mind was Columbia Records. There are many artists both British and American, who are owned by the label with varying levels of commercial success. Artists under the record label include Adele, Declan Mckenna, Earl Sweatshirt, Olly Murs, Raleigh Ritchie and Solange. The neo-soul music Solange makes would be similar to Layla Obi, who would also pick up a similar UK target audience that an artist like Raleigh Ritichie would appeal to. Due to similar artists striving under this record company, it seemed like it would be a good fit for owning Layla Obi.

The music label we agreed would be the most suited for our artist is 'Virgin EMI Records'. It appeals as a label, because there are a whole range of different musical acts with all sorts of unique sounds, so I felt our artist could evolve well and have the freedom to alter their musical style if they wanted. As well as this freedom, the label has had a history of working with British artists a long side a whole host of artists from other countries. British artists include Loyle Carner, MNEK, Katy B, Emeli Sande, Krept and Konan, Slaves, Lethal Bizzle, Pixie Lott and Chase & Status.
